Q:

Q: I AM currently 52 and plan to retire at 55-56 and possibly leave the country to live in Indonesia. What are the implications for me accessing my Superannuation? I have been told that issues can arise if you leave the country.

Our expert, Tony Clark, is a certified financial planner with Multiforte.

A: From the information you’ve provided, you can access your superannuation once you reach preservation age, in this case 55 years.

You need to have ceased gainful employment and declared to the superannuation trustee that you never intend to again become gainfully employed on a full time or part time basis.
