AS we age, we can expect our brains to shift gears a little less smoothly than they did in the past. A delayed reaction or temporarily forgotten name is a perfectly normal sign of a time-tested mind. Dementia, however, is not.

THERE’S been some debate in the past half-year over whether or not growing love handles are having an impact upstairs. Usually, weight gain is only associated with physical ailments such as diabetes, cholesterol levels and heart disease but there’s a growing belief that it’s also having an impact on cognitive function.

THERE’S no way to get around it, human beings are social creatures. Although going underground and disconnecting the telephone may seem like a great idea sometimes, it’s not going to be of any particular benefit to your brain function. However, going out and socialising is not only a great way to have fun but will also give your brain a workout.
