You oughta be in pictures

WE love the movies at SuperLiving, so it was only a matter of time before we put together our own moviegoers’ club. If you like going to the cinema for free, this is the place for you.

Whether we’re in the mood for serious absorption of artistically shot film, or a popcorn-munching rollercoaster, the movies always seem to find a way to enthral us. Sometimes, however, you’re scanning the newspaper listings and none of the shows seem to have quite the right flavour.

The big studios may appear to be in charge of what screens at our local cinemas, but we vote for those movies with every ticket. When you pay for your seat, you’re basically telling the production companies, “I want to see more movies like this one”.  And of course, they oblige. Cha-ching!

So it’s nice to slip in for free, see what’s going on in the biz and check out a few films you might not have gone to otherwise. This is what the SuperLiving Movie Club is all about. Once a month, we’ll sling out at least one double pass (probably more) to the reader or readers who leave the wittiest blogs in our blogs section.

Every month is a new movie giveaway and every month a new topic for ticket-winning blogs will be announced. Blogs can be any length and any style, and those who best tackle the monthly topics will take home the free cinema passes. This December, we’re kicking off the club with a holiday bang. We’ve got 20 double passes to give away for the new comedy Jack and Jill. Hollywood man-child Adam Sandler plays both Jack and Jill in this raucous valentine to the crazy family get-togethers that always happen this time of year.

To win your tickets, just go to our blogs page and write us your story about family fun, friction and farce in the holiday season. You’ll need to punch in your subscriber log-in details in order to post a blog (subscribing to SuperLiving is free). Be as personal or creative as you like, go anonymous or post a byline. All blogs will be published on the website.

We never know which movies are going to surface as the month’s giveaway opportunity, but for free admittance, you can hardly go wrong. Take a chance on a flick you might have skipped and you never know when you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Think of posting a blog as your request for the free passes. A quick story that shares your experiences with other SuperLiving readers is a great way of expressing yourself and imparting your insights, not to mention jumping those long queues at the cineplex.

The free passes are for “in season” movies, in other words, standard releases – not sneak previews. You can catch showings of the feature movie at any time and at the cinema of your choice, but there may be some conditions that apply depending on the cinema. Some places, for example, may not allow the use of vouchers on certain days because it conflicts with other house specials or scheduling.

For the most part, however, these passes work like a charm – and they’re only a blog away. See you at the movies!
